Orchids in my home – Now!

இந்த ஆர்க்கிட்கள் இப்பொழுது என் வீட்டில் பூத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.
இது AJAX நுட்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தி படங்களைக் காட்டும் முயற்சி. கீழிருக்கும் படத்தில் சொடுக்கினால் அதன் பெரியவடிவம் மேலெழுந்து வரவேண்டும். அதே சமயத்தில் தற்பொழுதைய காட்சிச் சாரளம் நிறம் மங்க வேண்டும்.
முதலாவதாக இருப்பது Phalenopsis என்ற ஆர்க்கிட் குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது. வண்ணத்துப் பூச்சியின் வடிவத்தை ஒத்திருப்பதால் இதற்கு Moth Orchid என்ற பெயர் உண்டு. இந்த ஆர்க்கிட்களின் பூர்வீகம் இந்தியா. அடுத்த மஞ்சள் நிற ஆர்க்கிட் எக்வடார், கொலம்பியா உள்ளிட்ட தென்னமெரிக்க நாடுகளைப் பிறப்பிடமாகக் கொண்ட Cattleya வகையைச் சேர்ந்தது. மூன்றாவதாக இருப்பது Dendrobium என்ற குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்தது. இதன் பூர்வீகமும் இந்தியாதான். ஃபெலெனோஃப்ஸிஸ் இமயமலைத் தொடர் அடிவாரங்களிலும் நடுத்தர உயரங்களிலும் காணக்கிடைக்கும். நான் இந்தியாவிற்கு வெளியே வந்த பிறகுதான் இதை முதலில் பார்த்தேன்.
டெண்ட்ரோபியம் வகை ஆர்க்கிட்கள் இந்தியா முழுவதும் பரவலாக, குறிப்பாக இமயமலை அடிவாரங்களிலும் மேற்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலைகளிலும், கர்நாடக, தமிழகக் காடுகளிலும் காணலாம். ஐஐடி தில்லியில் படித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த பொழுது டேராடூனிலிருந்து முஸோரி வரையிலும் பிறகு அங்கே கெம்டி ஃபால்ஸிலும் மலை ஏறிய பொழுது இந்தவகை ஆர்க்கிட்களை முதலில் பார்த்தேன். பிறகு வீரப்பன் கவுண்டியைச் சேர்ந்த பண்டிப்பூர் காடுகளில் இருந்த ஒரு அரசு விருந்தினர் பங்களாவில் இவற்றை நிறையவளர்ப்பதைப் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். தற்பொழுது என் வீட்டில் கிட்டத்தட்ட பதினைந்து வெவ்வேறு ஆர்க்கிட்களை வளர்த்து வருகிறேன். இவற்றில் ஆறு தற்பொழுது பூத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. சில மூன்று வருடக் காத்திருப்புக்குப் பின். இவற்றில் சிலவற்றின் பூக்கள் மூன்று மாதங்கள் வரை நீடித்திருக்கின்ற்ன். (முதல் படத்திலிருப்பது இப்பொழுது 40 நாட்கள் ஆனது). வீடே அழகானதுபோலிருக்கிறது.
உங்களில் யாருக்காவது ஆர்க்கிட்களில் ஆர்வமிருக்கிறதா?
ஆர்க்கிட்கள் நன்றாக உள்ளன. அவை குறித்தான ஆர்வம் குறிப்பாக இதுவரை வந்ததில்லை. தெரிந்து கொள்ள முயலப் போகிறேன்.

தங்கள் இல்லத்து ஆர்க்கிட்கள் அழகாக இருக்கின்றன. AJAX தொழில்நுட்பத்தைப் பயன்படுத்தி ஆர்க்கிட்களின் படங்களைக் காண்பிப்பதை நன்றாகச் செய்திருக்கிறீர்கள்!
Venkat, thank you for this site. my husband is mad after orchids.swiss orchids are blossoming now in our house in chennai.he has worked so hard to keep them alive. I will show him yr blog.we visited mr.natarajan’s Padappai orchid farm last year brought back 6 or 7. only one survived.
this orchid moham started right from the day we read Chase novel, ” No orchids for miss Blandish.” I will give my blog url in yr reply mail. little bit cautious now.
Thanks Mrs. Narasimhan. I used to grow a few orchids in when I was in Bangalore (and even infected a few of my friends with orchid-bug). I did not know there was an orchid farm in padappai. Shall visit during my next visit.
Growing orchids requires a lot of patience and more importantly enthusiasm – but is a very rewarding experience. It should be much more easy in India than here in Canada (cold). If you have any particular problems pl. let me know I will try to help as much as I can.
BTW; there aren’t many “Swiss” orchids. (May be it fashionable to name it like that in India). Orchids are abundant in tropical climates like India than in Swiss. (they do have a few there but they are less attractive). Our rich biodiversity is also reflected in orchids. Most popular species like Phalenopsis, Dendrubium, Vanda, Phapiopedilum, Cymbidium and Vanilla are all plenty in India.

I saw the archids. When I came to yur home in August 2006, yu showed these. I was wonderstruck when I saw so many flowers in yur home. letmy Guruji give yu long healthand Wealth.
