You question their heading of “… Shoots the messenger” yet you are doing exactly that: instead of talking about the findings in the report, you talk about how National Post is biased. What do you have to say about the contents of the report. I am a SL Tamil living in Toronto and I can personally confirm many of their findings, including the amounts quoted, intimidation tactics, etc.

The biggest joke of the whole thing is the fact that Tamil Congress defended the LTTE. Where was the other independent organization with no links to the LTTE? Most of the Tamils here the report is very accurate. Who are they trying to fool. The truth is slowly coming out.

Thanks for your comment. If you read at the end of my previous blog, I mentioned that I will comment on this over the weekend.

I do not know if the report is true or false. There are just too many conflicting views, that makes an outsider (non SL tamil) like myself very difficult to draw any conclusion. This can change only if LTTE critics (within the community) come with clear statements to prove the Tamil Congress claims wrong.

On the other hand, my idea of bring this issue is to inform those outside Toronto/Canada to be aware of what is happening in the largest non-asian Tamil diaspora community.

Human Rights Watch ஆவணத்தை முழுவதுமாகப் படித்தேன். மிகத் தீவிரமான குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் முன்வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இவை பற்றி அரசல் புரசலாகச் செய்திகள் முன்னமேயே வந்துள்ளன. ஆனால் மெதாடிகலாக இப்படி எழுதப்பட்டதில்லை. HRW எதோ உள்காரணங்களை வைத்து இந்த ஆவணத்தை உருவாக்கியிருக்கிறார்கள் என்று எனக்குத் தோன்றவில்லை. HRW தொடர்ந்து தீவிரமாக மனித உரிமை மீறல்களை வெளிக்கொண்டுவந்திருக்கிறது. காஷ்மீரில் இந்தியப் படைகளின் அத்துமீறல்கள் பற்றி 1994, 1996, 1999 வருடங்களில் அறிக்கைகள் எழுதியிருக்கிறார்கள். அதிலும் காஷ்மீர் ஆயுதப்போராளிகளின் அத்துமீறல்களைப் பற்றியும் எழுதியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

அதனால் மெசஞ்சரைச் சுடுவதற்கு பதில் கனேடிய (ஈழத்)தமிழ்ச் சமுதாயம் தங்களையே சற்று ஆழமாகக் கேள்விகள் கேட்கலாம்.

ஆனால் ஒரு விஷயம்: கனேடிய காவல்துறையும் சரி, ஐரோப்பிய நாடுகளின் காவல்துறைகளும் சரி, வெறும் மிரட்டல்களை, அல்லது மிரட்டல் போன்ற தொனியில் இருக்கும் எச்சரிக்கைகளை (”நீ கவனமாய் இரு. உன்னைக் கவனிப்போம். நீ போறதைப் பார்ப்போம்.”) புரிந்துகொண்டு மேற்கொண்டு நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பது கடினம். மேலும் இந்தக் காவல்துறைகளே சொல்வதுபோல இருக்கும் எத்தனையோ பிரச்னைகளில் இந்தப் பிரச்னைக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் தருவது கடினம்.
