    பத்ரியின் வலைக்குறிப்பில் தினமலர் கம்ப்யூட்டர் மலரில் வரும் விளக்கக் கட்டுரைகளைப்     பற்றிக் குறித்திருந்தார். எல்லாவற்றையும் ஆங்கில வார்த்தைகளில் அப்படியே எழுதிவிட்டு, அங்கங்கே திறக்கவும், ஏமாற்றிவிடும் என்று மேலே கடுகு தாளித்ததைப் போல சில தமிழ் வார்த்தைகளை தூவிவிட்டு இவற்றைத் தமிழ் விளக்கங்கள் என்று சொல்லும் வியாதி எப்பொழுது விடுமோ என்று தெரியவில்லை. எங்க கும்மோணத்துக்காரர் திரு கருப்பையா மூப்பனார் எழுபதுகளுக்குப் பிறகு தில்லி அரசியலில் முக்கியமான மிகச் சில தமிழர்களில் ஒருவராக இருந்தார். அவர் காங்கிரஸ் காரியக் கமிட்டி செயலாளராக இருந்தபோது அறிக்கை படிக்கும் விதமே தனி அழகு. உதாரணத்துக்கு ஒன்று. “காங்கிரஸ் பார்ட்டிக்-கோ பிரஸிடென்ட் ஸ்ரீ ராஜிவ் காந்தி-கே ஆடர்-பர், மே ஸ்ரீ வி.பி.சிங், ஸ்ரீ.ஆரி·à®ªà¯ மொஹம்மத் கான், ஔர் ஸ்ரீ. வி.சி. சுக்லா-நே காங்க்ரஸ் பார்ட்டி-ஸே டிஸ்மிஸ் கர்-கியா. இஸ் டிஸ்மிஸ் ஹமாரா காங்க்ரஸ் பார்ட்டி-கோ பிரஸ்டீஜ் சேவ்-கர்னே கேலியே கர்தியா…”. இந்த ரீதியில் கியா, கோ, ஹமாரா என்று மூன்று எழுத்துக்களுக்கு மிகாத இந்தி இணைப்புகளைப் போட்டு 97.6% ஆங்கிலத்திலேயே பேசி கிட்டத்தட்ட பத்து வருடங்கள் தில்லியில் குப்பை கொட்டினார். இதே ரீதியில்தான் இருக்கிறது தினமலர் சாம்பிள்.

    இப்படித்தான் தொழில்நுட்பங்களை விளக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஒரு பெரிய கூட்டமே மார்தட்டிச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இன்னொரு புறம், டொராண்டோ நகரில் சிறுவர்களுக்குத் தமிழ் கற்றுக் கொடுக்கும் ஆசிரியர்களில் சிலர் இங்கே இருக்கிற குழந்தைகள் வளைந்து நெளிந்து போகும் தமிழ் வரிவடிவங்களை எழுத மிகவும் சிரமப்படுகிறார்கள் என்று சொல்லி, “appa, naan water kudikkalaamaa, illai coke kudikkavaa?” ரீதியில் பழகுதமிழ் பயிற்றுவிக்கிறார்கள். காலகட்டத்தில் இரண்டு பயிற்றுவித்தல் நீரோட்டங்களும் ஒன்றாக இணைந்துபோய் ஆங்கிலம்தான் தமிழ் என்று முடிவாகிப்போகும் என்று அச்சமாக இருக்கிறது.

    இந்த ஒரு நிலை வராமல் இருக்க என்னுடைய நண்பர்கள் அவர்களுடைய குல தெய்வங்கள், கிராம தேவதைகள், இஷ்ட சாமியார்/சாமியாரிணிகள், கம்யூட்டர் வால் பேப்பர் தெய்வங்கள் என்று அவரவர்கள் வசதிப்படி வேண்டிக்கொள்ள விழைகிறேன்.

    PHP Vs ASP

    இன்டர்நெட்டில் பரவலாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் ஸ்க்ரிப்ட்டிங் மொழியான PHP, மைக்ரோசாஃப்ட்டின் ASP-யை (Active Server Pages) விட சிறந்தது. எப்படி? அதற்கு ஏழு காரணங்கள் சொல்கிறார் ஜான் லிம்.

    ஆக்டிவ் சர்வர் பேஜஸ் டைனமிக் வலைப்பக்கங்களைக் காட்டுவதற்கான மைக்ரோசாஃப்ட் தொழில்நுட்பம். இந்த ஸ்க்ரிப்ட்டிங் மொழி பல புரோகிராமிங் மொழிகளை சப்போர்ட் செய்கிறது. அதில் மிக அதிகமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படும் மொழி VBScript. பி.ஹெச்.பி. (HTML Pre-processor அல்லது Personal Home Page) என்பது ஏ.எஸ்.பி.க்கு மாற்றாக இருக்கும் ஒரு ஓபன் சோர்ஸ் முயற்சி. பி.ஹெச்.பி. விண்டோஸ், லீனக்ஸ் உள்பட பல ஆபரேட்டிங் சிஸ்டங்களில் இயங்குகிறது.

      I have programmed in both ASP and PHP and would like to make a point.

      “பி.ஹெச்.பி. தொழில்நுட்பத்தில் முந்திவிடும் என்பது மட்டுமில்லை, அது ஏ.எஸ்.பி.யை விடப் பிரபலமாகிவிடும்.”

      From this statement, I can readily recognise this to be an old article. ASP vs PHP debate is pretty much usless today. PHP wins hands down!

      Microsoft fully realised this and made an effort to improve it’s technology with the Introduction of ASP.NET. ASP.NET makes use of the extensive .NET class library making it easier to program even complicated features. I don’t care whether .NET is a marketing thing or not but I am very much pleased with ASP.NET. ASP.NET combined with Visual Studio.NET is a real powerful platform for the Windows Based developers. Microsoft has even released a free(beer) tool called Webmatrix (a lite version of VS.net) for ASP.NET development.

      Even Miguel de Icaza the founding leader of the Gnome project & CTO of Ximian(now acquired by Novell) and his team has developed an open source version of ASP.net for unix as part of the mono project (http://www.go-mono.com). ASP.NET is definitely not a Joke like the plain old ASP.

      So for a real comparison you should be comparing ASP.NET and PHP. The following debates should provide some insights:

      Having used both PHP and ASP.NET, I like both of them. ASP.NET has the advantage of having a wonderful development environment. PHP has the cost advantage. The upcoming version of PHP, PHP 5(http://www.php.net/zend-engine-2.php) has a new object model (Inspired by Java &.NET) and enables access to components written in .NET,Java or COM making it powerful than ever.

      (IIS vs Apache debate is really not applicable here since ASP.NET and PHP can run on both the servers)
