I personally just encourage people to switch to KDE. This “users are idiots, and are confused by functionality” mentality of Gnome is a disease. If you think your users are idiots, only idiots will use it. I don’t use Gnome, because in striving to be simple, it has long since reached the point where it simply doesn’t do what I need it to do.
Please, just tell people to use KDE.
This should generate a lot of heat. These days almost anything that he says ends up in riots (remember the BitKeeper?). Linus is undergoing a phase in which ‘Linus the God‘ truns into ‘Linus the demon’. Inevitable in a celebrity life.
I never liked KDE to begin with, it had an amateurish feel. Gnome started on a much solid foot. But unfortunately beneath the solid foot was clay and Gnome slumped. The KDE turned its weakness to strength and continues to innovate at a health phase.
Well, I don’t care much as long as I have XFCE.
